Getting started
What RoadBookAI is, where to start if you organise, race or administer, how to get into the Studio and the journey from GPX track to the RoadBook in the race.
Account and security
Signing up, signing in with two-step verification, recovery codes, sessions and connected devices, roles, your data and sharing roadbooks with your team.
Create and review
Create a roadbook from GPX
The New roadbook window - track, name, how many notes (Essential, Standard, Detailed), waypoint radii (FIM W2RC 2027, Training or one of your profiles), roads chosen by the system and progress bar.
Import an RN2
Import RN2 in the library - a finished RN2 roadbook becomes a RoadBook to review, version, export and use in stages: what is imported, notes to review or confirmed, the list of what does not fully fit, the exported RN2 identical to the original.
The Studio
Library, three-panel editor, map, RoadBook and inspector - how to review a roadbook note by note, even from the keyboard alone.
Drawing editor
Redrawing the note by hand - arrows, tracks and terrain, icons, text, CAP and danger.
FIM waypoints and radii
Adding waypoints and zones to a note, with opening and validation radii, penalties and speeds, from the FIM W2RC 2027 and Training profiles or from your own profiles.
Versions, comparison, MODIF and NEW NOTE
The draft saved with every action, versions that never change again, automatic MODIF and NEW NOTE and the note-by-note comparison.
Recce - voice and written notes
From the notes recorded on a recce to proposals for the roadbook - recording with the RoadBookAI app (or with OsmAnd), uploading the files, listening, accepting, editing or rejecting.
After the review
Export
RN2, the format most widely used by roadbook apps and software, PDF Dakar to print, OpenRally GPX for navigation apps and the RoadBookAI file for the Android and iOS app.
Public roadbooks
Publishing one of your roadbooks in the catalogue, the administrator's review, the catalogue by country in the Studio, the app and the website, downloading as RoadBook or GPX, copying into your library and reporting a problem.
Organising an event
Events and stages
For the organiser - creating an event and accepting the joint controllership agreement, choosing classes and team, freezing the roadbook of each stage, giving riders the offline map, issuing a last-minute version and keeping the race data.
Entrants, start times and unlocking
For the organiser - uploading entrants from a spreadsheet, minors and parental consent, entry statuses, the starting order generator (FIM or custom), the encrypted package that opens at GPS time and the preview of what the rider sees.
Organiser profiles
For the organiser and the tutor - saving your own profiles of waypoint radii and rules under a name, starting from FIM W2RC 2027 or Training, and applying them to roadbook generation, to RoadBooks already generated, to events, stages and training groups.
Stage rules
For the organiser - time-based or clean navigation classification, start and finish, waypoint penalties, unlock codes, speed, race STOP, neutralisations with exit area and GO, maximum time, retirements and the 70 % threshold, controls, opening bonus, LateNote, automatic scrolling, regulation mode, integrity and classifications.
Race, live and results
For the organiser and race control - the live map with rider status and alarms, stage and overall results calculated by the service, provisional and final, manual corrections and decisions for everyone with their log, unlock codes, the rider report and the public pages.
Replay and tutor groups
Reviewing a stage or a training ride in the Studio - map with the actual tracks, RoadBook following along, charts, mistakes explained, section comparison, comments and shared links - and the tutor's training groups.
The rider app
The app - installation and sign-in
The RoadBookAI app for Android, iPhone and iPad - installing it, signing in with your Studio account, the home screen, My roadbooks, imported files, automatic data sending and privacy.
The cockpit
The cockpit's instruments and controls - instruments at the top and status block at the bottom, odometer and partial, waypoint arrow, RoadBook with large notes, automatic scrolling, panels and modes, waypoints, speed, race STOP, neutralisations, RoadBooks in PDF, remote and menu.
Cockpit settings
The ten tabs of the app settings - Odometer, Display, RoadBook, Sounds, Track, Remote, Time, GPS, Waypoints and Device - profiles and the settings locked by the organiser.
GPX navigation with the offline map
Navigating the track on a map downloaded in advance, with the RoadBook warnings overlaid - dangers, STOPs, junctions, fords, speed zones - for GPX entrants, public roadbooks and your own roadbooks.
Racing with the app
For riders entered in an event - My events, GPS time, the encrypted package that opens by itself at the right time, last-minute versions, the stage rules in the cockpit, live position, retirement and data sending.
Training and replay
For the rider - training with the GPS or in simulation, the off-course alarm with the back-track arrow, the LateNote warning "CHECK THE ROADBOOK!", tutor groups and the replay of your own rides in the app.
Administration
Users and roles
For the administrator - approving sign-ups, blocking, resetting passwords and two-step verification, giving the organiser, tutor and administrator roles, the sign-in log and the moderation of public roadbooks.
Jobs, maps and updates
For the administrator - the job queue and its lanes, the regional maps on the server and the offline maps for riders, signed updates of the Studio and the back office with backup and automatic rollback.
